Another way to connect your iPhone or iPad to your TV is to have an Apple TV on the receiving end of things. The Apple TV can connect to your device and stream content using AirPlay. It is available for a near-$195 starting price.
To get started, make sure that your Apple TV is connect to the Wi-Fi, or another wireless network, along with your TV via HDMI. Once it successfully connects, you should be able to see Apple TV’s home screen. Also, ensure that your iPhone or iPad, at all times, is connect to a wireless network, or the streaming would falter.
First up, open the videos app on your Apple handheld and play a video, next, open the Control Centre by swiping from bottom-to-top on your device, and tap the AirPlay icon. Select Apple TV when prompted, exit the Control Centre, and hit the play button again. The video should now be playing on your TV.

Connecting youriPhone/iPadto the TV via a Lightning Digital AV Adaptor and aHDMICable

Perhaps the simplest way to help connect your Apple handheld to your TV is via a Lightning Digital AV Adaptor. You can get it off an Apple Store, although it doesn’t come cheap. Additionally, you would need an HDMI cable on you. The Adaptor carries a near-60$ price-tag, while the HDMI should be available for just over $20; you could alternatively purchase the latter off another store as the prices do differ.
On one end of the adaptor, you have the connector that you need to plug-in to your iPhone or the iPad, while two different inputs are there on the other; one of these is to help you charge the device, simultaneously, while the other one is an HDMI port to connect to your TV.
To get started, plug-in one end of the HDMI cable in your TV’s input, while the other end gets plugged-in to the HDMI port on the adaptor. On the other hand, the cable attached to the adaptor goes in the charging-slot on your iPhone or iPad. Additionally, you could plug-in the charging cable to the other unused port on the adaptor to help charge your device.
Now as you switch on your TV, and switch to HDMI, you should see your device’s display appear on the screen. The display on the TV may not be the best when it first loads, although it should be back to how it ought to be, a few minutes later.

Using Mirroring

You are likely to face issues, at some point in time, when trying to connect your iPhone or iPad to your TV. Either the app isn’t compatible, or AirPlay fails to offer support. In such circumstances, you are left with the option of Mirroring.
Just as the name suggests, you get to stream the entire screen of your Apple handheld device on your television; this means, anything you are doing on your device, as long as it is connected to the TV, will appear on the big screen.

Launch the Control Center on your device and tap AirPlay to unveil the options. Tap on Apple TV from the list, and toggle on Mirroring.

If you wish to see your pictures on the big screen, go to the Photos app and tap Share. Once you handpick the pictures you wish to see on the big screen, tap AirPlay from the menu, and choose Apple TV. As your TV displays your photos, all you need to do is swipe right or left, or you could start a slideshow
